Exterior Design Studio provides a flexible range of garden design services for private and commercial clients across Wiltshire, Bath, Bristol, the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.
Every project is different. Our involvement can range from a focused garden advice session or planting scheme to a complete design package covering the initial concept, detailed construction information and support while the garden is being built.

Our complete garden design service takes a project from its earliest ideas through to a coordinated and buildable proposal.
The process begins with a consultation and an assessment of the existing garden. We then develop the overall layout, character, materials and planting through concept and detailed design.
Depending on the needs of your project, the design package can include a site appraisal, concept plans, a detailed masterplan, 3D visualisations, material specifications, construction details, planting plans, lighting ideas and tender information.
We can also assist with contractor selection and visit the garden during construction to help ensure that the design is interpreted as intended..

We design attractive, functional and memorable outdoor spaces for commercial clients, property professionals and organisations.
Our experience includes hospitality spaces, residential developments, care environments, courtyards, roof terraces and other public-facing landscapes. Each scheme is developed around the needs of its users, the character of the business and the practical requirements of the site.
We can work directly with a client or collaborate as part of a wider team involving architects, interior designers, developers, specialist consultants and contractors.

A considered planting scheme brings structure, atmosphere and seasonal interest to a garden.
Our planting designs respond to the garden’s soil, aspect, local conditions and architectural character. We also consider colour, texture, biodiversity, maintenance requirements and how the planting will develop over time.
The service can include planting plans, schedules, plant quantities, specification notes and setting out on site. Planting design is available as part of a complete garden project or as a standalone service for an existing garden.

A garden advice session is ideal if you need professional direction but do not require a complete design package.
During the consultation, we can explore the layout of your garden, planting, materials, screening, furniture, garden buildings or a particular problem area. You will receive practical recommendations and a clearer direction for moving the garden forward.
Advice sessions are particularly useful for new homeowners, smaller gardens and clients who intend to undertake some of the work themselves.

Working with architects and other professionals
Exterior Design Studio regularly collaborates with architects, interior designers, property developers, craftspeople and landscape contractors.
Early collaboration allows the building and landscape to be developed as one coordinated design. We can contribute at concept stage or join an established project team to provide specialist garden and landscape input.
